I have been on stage more times than I can count as a bass player. Standing behind a DJ setup in front of people for the first time is apparently a completely different thing, because my hands would not stop shaking.

Three songs. That was the deal. I was playing as a guest alongside DJ Acid Love Cindy, which took some of the pressure off -- this wasn't my night, I was just borrowing a few minutes of it. But knowing that didn't stop my hands from doing what they were going to do.

The setlist:

  1. Rage Against the Machine Sleep Now in the Fire
  2. Crystal Method Comin' Back
  3. Mötley Crüe Too Young to Fall in Love

Not a pure metal set by any measure, but it was mine. Three songs I wanted to play, played in front of people who were actually listening. The crowd was good to me. Nobody left. A few people nodded. That counts.

One down.
